Welcome to the website of the New Zealand Finance Colloquium

The New Zealand Finance Colloquium was an initiative introduced in 1996 to promote the discussion, dissemination and development of finance related research within New Zealand. The colloquium is an annual event organised and held at universities throughout the country.

25th Annual (2021) New Zealand Finance Colloquium

The 25th Annual New Zealand Finance Colloquium will be hosted by the Waikato Management School, University of Waikato in Tauranga on the 11th and 12th of February 2021.

The event will include a PhD symposium on the morning of 11th February, 2021 with the main colloquium sessions commencing in the afternoon of the 11th February, 2021.

PhD Symposium Awards

  • Auckland Centre for Financial Research (AUT Business School) ($1,000)
    Presented for the best PhD student paper

Colloquium Awards

  • BLR outstanding research award
    A trophy that acknowledges the founders of the colloquium, Professor Glenn Boyle, Dr. Martin Lally, and Professor Larry Rose.
  • NZX Awards ( 2 x $5,000)
    Two awards for outstanding research with practical application to the New Zealand capital markets.
  • INFINZ - Best paper award for investments ($1,000)
    The Best Paper Award for Investments was sponsored by the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand Inc (INFINZ).
  • Craigs Investment - Best paper award for capital markets ($1,000) (New Award)
    The Best Paper Award for Capital Markets is sponsored by the Craigs Investment Partners Limited.

Pacific-Basin Finance Journal (PBFJ)

In collaboration with the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal (PBFJ) and at the discretion of the editor of the journal, a selection of papers presented in the 25th New Zealand Finance Colloquium 2021 will be invited for submission to regular issues of PBFJ.
The recommended papers will go through normal review process and are subject to the standard submission fee of US$180.
Please nominate if you would like to be considered for PBFJ in your conference submission.
